How to Make List Building Fun with Quizzes
Every blogger knows that the email list is the most prized possession. Your email subscribers are your ticket to “the big leagues” (at least that’s what I hear) and every seasoned blogger has seen the benefits of having a large email list.
But how do you get there? Especially as a new blogger.
There are so many ways to generate email leads when you’re blogging. Content upgrades are a popular way to do this. But what do you do if you don’t have time to create fantastic checklists, planners, and more?

Email Marketing with Quizzes
Now here’s where the fun comes in. We’ve all clicked on those quizzes you see on Facebook that supposedly tells you everything you want to know about yourself. Yeah, those kinds of quizzes.
Do you remember at the end how they asked for your email address?
I don’t always fill it in. But what would happen if your favorite blogger had a fun quiz on their blog? Would you give them your email list?
This is what I wanted to find out. But you still may be wondering why I would want to make my readers take a quiz.
There are so many reasons a quiz is the perfect opt-in tool for any blogger. Here are my top four.
You can create a quiz for any niche you can think of. Are you a mama blogger? Make up a quiz that tells your reader what parenting style fits their personality. Food blogger? Give your readers a new recipe that fits into their favorite food categories. Beauty blogger? Let your reader’s take a quiz that tells them what level they are with their makeup-up skills. Literally, anything you can think of.
You Get More Info About Your Readers
You can track the results and see what category a majority of your readers fit into. This will help you tailor your content even further to your ideal reader. You do know who your ideal reader is right? Of course you do.
Your Reader is More Engaged
Let’s face it, the quizzes are fun. Really fun. Even if they are total bogus. Like those “Which Supernatural Character Are You?” quizzes. You know it’s not of any value, but you do it because it’s fun.
Imagine you’re your reader and your quiz is actually giving them useful information about themselves. Or it leads them to your content that suits them best. Yeah, you can do that!
Higher Conversion Rates
No, that’s serious. I put a quiz on one of my blog posts and my opt-in rate was 6.8% overall based on views of the quiz. But 22% of people who started the quiz signed up for my email list.
How many people that read your blog posts sign up for your email list?
If you’re lucky you’ve got a 1-4% conversion rate on your general email opt-in form. My general opt-in form gets me a 1.31% conversion rate, and I have two forms in each blog post.
That’s a huge difference. Imagine putting a fun quiz on your top 5 or top 10 posts.
Having Fun with Quizzes
When it comes to creating quizzes, there are a few options available to you. You can use something like Google Forms or TypeForm for simple and quick quiz creation. But my absolute favorite yet is Interact.
Interact allows you to create beautiful quizzes, just like the Buzzfeed quizzes you often see on Facebook. You can use image answers or phrase answers. They even allow brand customization so you can carry over your brand colors and your logo onto your customized quiz.
No other software that I have tried has made having fun with quizzes as simple and customizable as Interact has. You can even try out the very first quiz I’ve made right here.
Using Interact to Have Fun with Quizzes
Interact has what seems like unlimited options for customizing your quiz, and they have plenty of prebuilt quiz templates that you can brand and use as-is, or use as a guide. You pick the questions, you pick the results. And the images are fully customizable as well!
Social sharing is a prominent feature in Interact quizzes as well as email integration with all of the most common email marketing software such as Mailerlite, ConvertKit, Mailchimp, and more. All you have to do is check Enable Lead Capture and set-up your form (right in the Interact software) and you’re good to go.
But Interact offers even more.
Most bloggers do a giveaway at least once on their blog. But it can be difficult creating and tracking giveaways with the free giveaway software that is available. Interact makes it really easy to use your giveaway to grow your email list. And your entry form is just as customizable as your quizzes.
What about polls? Polls can be an excellent way to see what your readers want out of your blog or company. Interact has those too! Again, they’re super customizable and super easy to create.
Want to try Interact for yourself? Try it out here, I guarantee you’ll love it.
