Ahhh! This is so exciting!
I am so happy that even though I am just entering the blogging world I have been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by the ever so awesome Emmy Kissinger over at Bright Little Mama. ♥♥♥♥ It is such an honor and I hope that we can connect further together.
It is so wonderful that Emmy has nominated me and I don’t mind at all that there’s nothing physical to hold onto. The thought alone that someone read my words and thought they were good enough for recognition is enough to celebrate. This really is an honor and I cannot wait to pass on the excitement to other wonderful bloggers.
In my short time blogging (only a couple of weeks) I have connected with such great people through Facebook communities and it is great to see how helpful everyone is. It is nice to be a part of something that is so generous and caring without expecting anything in return. This is something that I strive to show from myself and it’s a pleasure to have found others who are just like me.
In order to accept this award I have to follow a few rules, so I’ll address them now.
I have to thank the blogger who nominated me and provide a link to their blog. ♥
I have to write a post to show the award. ♥
I have to write a brief story of how my blog started. ♥
I have to give two pieces of advice to new bloggers. ♥
I have to select 15 other bloggers that I want to pass this award onto. ♥
I also have to comment on each of the 15 blogs to let them know that I have nominated them and provide them the link to this post. ♥
Why did I start Lessons From A Student Mom?
After a year or so of tossing the idea of blogging around in my head, this past April I decided to stop being my anxious self and just dive in. For me, Lessons of a Student Mom is a place where I can pass on the knowledge that I have gained as a student and a mother. What good is knowledge if you can’t share it with others? I have learned so much throughout my years in college, and much of it was learned “the hard way.” My only hope was that I could help someone else, maybe a new mom or a new college student, find ways around these difficult times. I just wanted to share with people that someone cares, even if they don’t know who you are.
I have always enjoyed so many creative outlets, writing being one of them. I figured if I could combine a few passions in one I would be happy. Lessons From A Student Mom is here as a way for me to help other student moms to know that they are not alone. I am here to raise awareness for Mental Health and Mental Illness. But I am also here to enjoy the presence of these other great bloggers who do this for passion and nothing more.
Advice to New Bloggers
I really don’t feel as though I should be giving advice as I am so new to this, but if I have anything to share it would be this:
♥ Don’t be afraid to do some research. Before I began I read three different e-books on how to start blogging, pinned hundreds of posts on advice for new bloggers and what not to do, and scoured the internet for anything that I should definitely do and not do.
♥ Yes, you should pick a niche and yes it should be at least somewhat specific, but if it isn’t something you’re passionate about it will be easy for you to write a few posts and not come back to it. I think this is why it took me so long to actually jump in, I didn’t realize how much I had to give in this area of my life until I really started to help others and raise awareness.
